A perfect morning
Last Friday night G mentioned that someone at the station had told him if we went to Sanibel Island real early in the morning we could find some really nice sea shells. So Saturday morning, we decided to head out. Of course our children are up before dawn, but our energy isn't quite awake til the sun is as well. We got to the beach about 8a and there were already plenty of shell-pickers out. It was so beautiful though. A bit overcast, but beautiful nonetheless. White sand, so soft and lots of pretty shells. Kids had brought buckets and had great fun filling them up. D is normally not enthused about the beach and was nervous of the waves at first, but soon ended up wet from playing in them. We had to keep ahold of M of course cause she would have walked right on out there without a second thought (we did let her play, no worries, but just kept her from going in over her head.) We walked down to the lighthouse where G informed me that the station pays the light bill every month to the tune of $10K or so! While standing there for a bit (cause we couldn't go any further down) a woman told us to check out the dolphins. Sure enough, 10-15ft away from shore there were dolphins playing in the waves. I stood there thinking, "How freaking cool is that?!" The kids were slightly less impressed than I. Another woman had caught a starfish and let the kids hold it. We soon left since parking was $2 an hour and we had paid $6 just to go over the foolish bridge! LOL. But, overall it was just a great morning. I can't wait to go back. I don't have any pics cause I couldn't find my camera anywhere.
And in other news, we finally have TV, phone and internet. Yay! Here's the only pic I have so far of our new digs.
